Beach Rules & Guidelines
DO KEEP OUR BEACH AND PROPERTY CLEAN:
- “Leave No Trace”: Take ALL items, trash, refuse, etc., back to your house
- No animals on the beach between 10 AM and 6 PM – May 15th – Sept 15th
- ONLY put bagged dog waste in the designated parking lot receptacles
- Beach fires must be contained within a metal container at least 50 feet from any beach grass/vegetation or staircases, put out by midnight, and water extinguished by the Town of East Hampton Beach Fire Regulations.
RESPECT AND STAY CLEAR OF OUR FRAGILE CLIFFS & BEACH GRASS:
- Children and adults must not climb or play on the cliffs or the rocks at the base of the cliffs. These fragile cliffs are crucial to protecting our homes from rising sea levels
- Members and guests shall not harm, damage, deface or soil the cliffs
- No beach blankets, chairs, umbrellas, equipment, or structures shall be placed on the beach grass or close to the base of the cliffs
- Vehicles shall not be driven near or parked within 10 feet of the beach grass or cliffs.
Members and neighbors have begun planting beach grass close to the bluffs to help ensure their longevity. Your support will help these efforts.
FOLLOW MBPOA PARKING LOT RULES:
- Only cars with a valid and visible MBPOA permit may park in the lots
- Secure the chain lock when entering or leaving
- No overnight parking in the parking lots (year-round)
- Commercial vehicles are never allowed in the parking lots.
Violating the rules may result in a property owner’s MBPOA membership not being renewed. Please convey, and make available, these rules to all who use your MBPOA property.
Parties & Gatherings Guidelines
This a reminder that MBPOA owns the beach above the Mean High-Water (debris) line. The Town of East Hampton requires a Special Events permit for beach parties if any of the following three criteria below apply; MBPOA also requires a complement authorization as well if any of the same three criteria apply:
- There are 50 or more guests.
- The event is catered. This includes but is not limited to caterers dropping food off
to clients on the beach or in the parking lots. - Structures will be placed or erected on the beach or parking lots. This includes
chairs and arches or chuppahs for wedding ceremonies.
MBPOA member hosts and their renters need to provide Special Event Insurance in the minimum amount of $2,000,000 per occurrence, listing MBPOA as an additional insured party and including Host Liquor Liability (whether you plan to serve alcohol or not). Insurance certificates shall be submitted two weeks before the event. Please look at the Beach Party Authorization page to submit your insurance.
- The East Hampton Town required Special Events permit is available at the Town of E. Hampton Permit.
- Events to be held in our parking lots also need MBPOA authorization.
- The responsible member will bear damages to the MBPOA property and clean-up costs.
- Commercial vehicles are never allowed in the parking lots.
Violating the rules may result in a property owner’s MBPOA membership not being renewed. It is a necessity of the changing times that MBPOA now requires a member’s certificate of insurance listing MBPOA as an additional insured on their policy for beach parties to protect the association and the property. The beach is a magical place, and this insurance requisite and rules will ensure that it will be enjoyed today and by future generations.
