Our 42nd annual beach party was held this past Saturday on a warm and sunny day. The ocean was calm and many of the members along with their family and friends were able to cool off in the warm summer ocean waters.

There was plenty of food for all and the beach party team served up hotdogs with sauerkraut, Cirillo’s IGA Deli fried chicken, pulled pork sandwiches, corn on the cob, chips, and pickles. When the kids finished the games, members were served cold watermelon and yummy cookies. Just before we broke down the tents, the winners of the sandcastle contest and the raffle were announced.

Special thanks to Carol Shurman for delighting the children with her creative face painting; to the Jorgensen family for organizing an running the games;  Sharon Sennefelder for arranging for all the prizes and selling the raffle tickets; to John Stikeman for taking such fabulous photos; to the Gentner Family for all the runs to pick up the food and drinks;  to Marge Harvey, Iris Mitchel, and Sharon Sennefelder for manning the check-in, selling logo merchandise and prize tickets; and last but not least to Bob Shurman and Joan Stikeman for leading the overall organization of the event.  Thanks to our crazy hot dog cookers, Ric Kallaher and Bob Restivo; on corn duty were Brian Harris; and to the Boyle and Jorgensen family and the entire the food crew who all chipped in to help. We hope we haven’t left anyone out. It takes a lot of hard work to set up and transport all the stuff down to the beach, and then take down and clean-up, so thanks to all who helped out.  That’s community at work folks!
