The 33rd Annual Beach Party was a great success!
The 33rd Annual Beach Party was an outstanding success!
MBPOA
Members along with family and friends celebrated summer once again with
the annual 33rd MBPOA Beach Party. It was held on Saturday, August 1st,
2009 at Webster Beach. The party featured lots of yummy stuff to eat
and drink, good music and games for adults and kids. We had brilliant
sunshine with perfect temptress in the low 80s. The ocean waves were
wonderfully warm and both children and adults enjoyed the body and
boogie boarding.
We wish to thank Joan Stikeman and Bob
Shurman Co-Chairs along with their team of volunteers who helped to
make it happen. It's a big job and everyone pulled together to make it
a successful event. Bravo everyone! Also kudoos go out to John
Jurgensen who performed an amazing job of keeping the beach clean - no
small effort! A shout out to Kris and John Kivela who came up with
some brilliant games for the kids to play and made all the signs for
the event. Thanks to Sharon Sennefelder who operated as our creative
director, helping with the games, prizes and creating a festive mood.
The Kivela's, Sennefelders and the check in crew did a great job of
selling raffle tickets, which helps to off set the costs of the party.
The
Kitchen Crew served 400 ears of corn, 600 hot dogs, 60 chickens from
Herb's Market, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, tons of soda, watermelon
and cookies. It was a hungry crowd this year and we ended up cooking
every last hot dog we had - so apologies to anyone who got there late
in the day and ended up with cookies and watermelon. Everyone
enjoyed the games and the ever popular egg toss drew a huge number of
participants. Special thanks to the team that created and ran the
games, Kris and John Kivela along with Sharon Sennefelder for helping
and arranging all the prizes.
It takes a very large crew to
set up, cook and serve all that yummy food. A round of applause goes
out to the rest of the crew: Bob Lamparter, Mike Vecchia, Ed Gentner,
Bob Mulligan, Jim Gould Jr, Iris Mitchell (our super shopper), Harold
and Lily Elsis, John Winston, Gerry Bolye, Bob Restivo, Rick Kallaher,
Chris Yula, The Valardi clan, The Getner clan (Dan, Keith, Dewy) and
the many other MBOPA members who pitched in to help.
We had
our roving photographer, Aurelia Jurgensen, who spent the day capturing
the event and activities for all of us to enjoy.
Once
again, three cheers goes up to John Jurgensen who does an absolutely
amazing job of keep the beach clean during and after the event.
We wish to thank everyone who contributed raffle, food and other items,
helped with setup and stayed around to help with the clean-up after the
event. We feel that the success of these parties is a direct
reflection of our wonderful and active organization.
Bob Mulligan, President and the MBPOA Board Memebers
